Established in 1956, Howarth’s Removals of Todmorden Ltd is a well respected, family-established removals and storage specialist, trusted for local, nationwide and international relocation’s.

Founded by local businessman Fred Howarth, the company began by supporting the community with coal deliveries before naturally evolving—through customer demand, into a trusted home removals service. From the outset, the business was built on a simple principle: deliver a dependable service, carried out properly, every time.

In the years that followed, Fred’s son Ken Howarth assumed leadership. As a qualified mechanic responsible for maintaining the company’s vehicles, Ken brought a meticulous, hands-on approach and further strengthened the standards for which Howarth’s had become known. Under his direction, the company expanded its team while maintaining the same commitment to professionalism, care, and consistency.

In 2002, the business entered a new era with the appointment of Nick Hallsworth, an exceptional and in-demand removals professional whose career in the industry began in 1987. Nick quickly became widely recognized by his calm efficiency, exceptional customer care, and an uncompromising attention to detail whilst carrying out removals. Clients began to request him specifically – and often returning to Howarth’s time and again, and telling friends and family about our services, cementing the company’s reputation not only locally, but further afield.

As Ken gradually stepped back to focus on administration and the mechanical side of the business, Nick took full responsibility for day-to-day removals operations, setting an even higher benchmark for service. In 2011, Ken retired fully and Nick became the sole owner of Howarth’s Removals, leading the business from strength to strength while preserving the values established decades earlier.

Today, with 39 years of removals expertise, Nick leads a carefully selected team of professional movers (including his own 2 sons)  who share the same high standards of conduct and workmanship.
